Attorney Matthew F. Burke Jr. is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where he obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management. Attorney Burke received a Juris Doctor from the University of Massachusetts School of Law. While attending college and law school, he worked as a firefighter for the City of Fall River.

Attorney Burke served as an Assistant District Attorney from 1994-2000, where he prosecuted cases in the Juvenile, District and Superior courts. In 2000, he started a solo practice and focused on real estate transactions and criminal law. During this time he tried over 200 criminal trials in the Massachusetts District and Superior courts.

Attorney Burke is a founding partner of Burke, Espinola & van Colen. Currently, Attorney Burke focuses his practice on real estate, criminal defense, personal injury, and Civil Service Appeals. He is admitted to practice in the Massachusetts State Courts. Attorney Burke is also member of various bar associations including the Fall River and New Bedford Bar Associations and the Bristol County Bar Association.

Attorney Burke is an active member of the local community. In the past, he has served as a Board Member of the Greater Fall River Development Corp., as a Commissioner of the Fall River Housing Authority, and was a member of the City of Fall River Community Preservation Committee. Currently, Attorney Burke is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Atlantis Financial Foundation and is the President of the Board of Trustees for the Atlantis Charter School.

Attorney Burke sponsors many local youth sports teams including the Acushnet Youth Athletic Association, Whaling City Baseball, Maplewood Little League, Swansea Girls Softball League, American Little League, and the Milliken/Silva Youth Basketball League. In addition to sponsorship, Attorney Burke coaches Fall River Youth Soccer, Westport Youth Baseball League, Swansea Independent Baseball League, CYO Basketball League, Maplewood Twilight League, North Park Baseball League, Maplewood Little League, Whaling City Baseball, and the Acushnet Youth Athletic Association.
